A smart lock has a variety of applications, such as providing a convenient and seamless service for home owners and renters in the home sharing economy, or to secure and remotely track goods in the logistics industry. We Are Perspective (WAP) is an industrial design consultancy and hardware incubator based in Singapore and headquartered in the Netherlands. They approached IPI during its flagship technology-industry brokerage event TechInnovation in 2015, and sought IPI’s support in identifying a smart lock solutions provider.

WAP was matched with JA Security and Innovations (JASI), a local logistics tracking and smart lock solutions provider for enterprise. JASI had in its technology portfolio, a smart lock device with GPS-enabled location-tracking capabilities used for secure transportation of goods in the logistics industry. Recognising the demand for smart locks in the consumer market, TransforMesh was formed as a startup company by both parties in April 2016 to develop a keyless lock which can be unlocked using a smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. The ‘InsightLock’ made its debut at TechInnovation 2016. It was the first smart padlock to be integrated with a WIFI module and a long range Bluetooth module, using a ‘rhythm code’ for users to lock and unlock via tapping a particular rhythm such as that from a song. The smart lock also comes with an innovative feature that allows for real-time break in alerts.

“Through this collaboration facilitated by IPI, we successfully brought together the expertise from We Are Perspective and JA Security and Innovations and founded TransforMesh. We see the technology opening up a vast range of applications ranging from apartment security, bicycle sharing, locker rental, including other B2B use cases. Having the opportunity to showcase InsightLock at TechInnovation 2016 has definitely helped generate interest from potential business and technology partners,” commented Mr Kandan Jayaraj, Co-Founder of TransforMesh Pte Ltd.
