From 29 January to 2 February, 15 UK-based businesses visited Singapore to meet various stakeholders and potential partners in the Singapore urban living sector and better understand opportunities in the market. The visit was organised by Innovate UK and funded by the Global Business Accelerator Programme[1].
As part of this week-long programme, the UK delegation visited IPI on 29 January to gain insights on Singapore’s innovation ecosystem and explore collaboration opportunities with local enterprises. Lim Ming Khai, Deputy Director of IPI, gave an overview of IPI and how it enables enterprises to grow their businesses through innovation partnerships.
A brokerage event jointly organised by Innovate UK and IPI, and supported by Enterprise Europe Network Singapore and JTC, was subsequently held on 31 January for the UK companies to network with potential Singapore partners. After an exciting technology pitching session in the morning, the participants were engaged in one-to-one business meetings in the afternoon. More than 50 local enterprises took part in the event and over 100 meetings were initiated at this vibrant event held at the Launchpad @ one-north.
The participating UK companies were impressed with the opportunities that Singapore presented in the urban living sector. They also found the visit useful in establishing connections with prospective partners from both the private and public sectors to explore mutually beneficial business and technology collaborations.
