Cooperation through innovation is vital for co-prosperity and growth – this was a key message that resounded during the Korea-ASEAN IP Transaction and Transfer Fair held on 27 November in Seoul. Organised by World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and Korean Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), the event aimed to catalyse technology transactions between Korea and ASEAN countries, as well as create a favourable environment for technologies to be commercialised based on strong intellectual property rights.
IPI Deputy Director Lim Ming Khai shared how IPI partners enterprises to overcome their challenges in technology adoption and commercialisation through its open innovation. He also highlighted that Korean companies can tap into IPI’s services and platforms to broaden their network, seek new partnerships with Singapore companies and access markets in Southeast Asia.
In addition, IPI, KIPA and other ASEAN IP offices entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the event to formalise their commitment to create new opportunities for business and innovation-based cooperation between Korea and ASEAN innovation promotional organisations. The partners will cooperate to promote cross-border technology adoption and commercialisation.
