Dr Loh Wah Sing is an independent consultant and the former Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Science with A*STAR. Over his 50 years of work experience, Wah Sing has held senior technical and management appointments covering portfolio of chemicals, materials, food, precision engineering and environmental management.
Wah Sing has been engaged in market-oriented technology development from proof of concept to commercialisation, consultancy in productivity improvement and quality management. He has also provided advisory services and has been active in both national and international standardisation work as a member of the Chemical Standards Committee with the Singapore Standard Council since 2008.
He has experience working in China, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles and Sri Lanka and undertook overseas projects funded largely by both commercial enterprises and public institutions such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), United Nationals Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) in Japan.
Wah Sing’s work has been recognised by various organisations during his career. For example, he received the Innovators Award for developing and commercialising a water-based algae resistant paint for building facades in Singapore and the humid tropics from the Institution of Engineers Singapore.
Wah Sing holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Tokyo and received his PhD in Science, Master in Science (Industrial Engineering) and Doctor of Business Admin from the National University of Singapore. He is proficient in Chinese, English and Japanese language at working level.
