This three-day workshop will empowers you with the knowledge, skillset and confidence to navigate the complexities related to transitioning new technologies from the lab to the marketplace across various industries and geographical locations. Through lectures, case studies and group discussions, you will gain real-world insights on how different technology commercialisation strategies can be applied to your technology portfolio and organisation.

This practice-oriented and hands-on workshop takes participants through a step-by-step process of:

  • Acquiring the basics of Intellectual Property (IP), and understand the types of IP rights and management.
  • Understanding the fundamentals of technology transfer and the IP commercialisation process.
  • Gaining knowledge and tools to evaluate new technologies and patents, and conduct patent analytics.
  • Obtaining practical tips and tools to bring IP and technology to market.
  • Identifying IP rights and models that are suitable for an industry-university research collaboration.
  • Understanding technology valuation and licensing to support technology commercialisation.

Dr Sze Tiam Lin
Chief Technology Officer, IPI


With more than 20 years of experience in commercialisation of new technologies and IP management, Dr Sze leads the IPI team in addressing technology and innovation needs of enterprises from the industry in areas spanning across Infocomm Technology & Electronics, Energy & Environment, Materials & Chemicals, Health & Personal Care, Manufacturing, amongst others.

Prior to IPI, Dr Sze was the Senior Vice President at ETPL (now A*ccelerate), the commercialisation arm of Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He worked on commercialising new technologies and, being a pioneer, contributed to several best practices in industry-research collaboration, licensing, technology and market intelligence, IP management and strategy, and licensing professional skills and training.

Dr Sze is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) and a council member of the Executive Committee of the Licensing Executive Society (LES), Singapore. He holds a PhD and a Bachelor of Engineering in Automatic Control & Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK and received an executive education in Strategic R&D Management at INSEAD, Fontainebleau.



Michael Goh
Chief Operating Officer, IPI


Michael Goh is Chief Operating Officer at IPI. He leads a multidisciplinary team of innovation managers who work with enterprises to source for technologies both locally or from abroad; and facilitate partnerships to bring new and innovative products and services to the market. 

Michael is passionate about sharing his knowledge in intellectual property (IP), IP management and commercialisation gained over 15 years at IPI and previous work experience with Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and ETPL (now A*ccelerate). He has spoken at innovation events as well as conducted training workshops on technology commercialisation and open innovation.

Michael graduated with a Master of Philosophy and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology.
